IVEPE-SEV, since its establishment in 1980 has held a leading position in the field of vocational training and lifelong learning and offers innovative training programs.

The need to establish a leading body for human resource development and training was created with our country’s accession to the ECC, when the Greek industry was preparing to face intense European competition.

At the time, in Greece the infrastructures for further education of employees at all levels in order to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and competences to deal with the impending competition were inadequate.

Realizing the need to develop skills in human resources, the then president of SEV, Mr. Theodoros Papalexopoulos, conceived the idea of establishing an organization aiming at providing on-going education and advanced training to the employees of the Greek industry.

The message found its reach in all the major industries of the private and public sector, resulting in the establishment of the Companies Association Center for Vocational Training (IVEPE) under the aegis of SEV. It is worth mentioning that among the founding members were Aluminium of Greece, TITAN Cements, the Chemical Industries of Northern Greece, Skaramangas Shipyards, Hellenic Petroleum of Aspropyrgos, Henninger Hellas, Financial Mining Industrial and Shipping Corporation, Softex-Athinaiki Chartopoiia Paper Mills, the Hellenic Steel Company, SHELMAN, ELLENIT and ELEBME (Hellenic Company of Industrial and Mining Investments). In addition, founding members are the individuals: Messrs. Dom Demenge, Fr. De Chassey, Dimitrios Economou, Christos Christodoulou, Xenophon Konstantinidis, Elias Eliaskos, Evangelos Boumis, Nikolaos Hatzinikolaou, Georgios Protopapas, Savvas Taoukis and Stylianos Exadaktylos.

In 2000, IVEPE, consistent with the promise to provide innovative services that respond to the new conditions and requirements of the market, decided to expand its educational services beyond technical training, and start implementing Management and Information Technology courses having a great success and broad acceptance.

In a recent revision of IVEPE’s charter (March 2012), SEV has assumed the institutional supervision of the Institute and ever since it has operated with the new name IVEPE-SEV and a new trademark-logo.

IVEPE-SEV continues and will continue to evolve dynamically, providing leading knowledge and skills.
