A professional can be an eligible candidate for the certification process only if he meets the minimum requirement of 1 year Industrial Welding experience.
The procedures and the content of the Certification Exams consists of a Theoretical Oral and a Practical Examination and covers a given welding technique and the scope of approval as this applied to one or more industrial sectors. More specifically:
- Theoretical exams are oral rather than mandatory (Annex B.1 of EN ISO 9606-1 and Annex C1 of ISO 9606-2).
- The practical exams has a satisfactory duration (depending on the method requirements, on the sample dimensions and its required preparation), difficulty and sufficient content, so that it is possible to confirm the technical competence and ability of the candidate to apply the welding technique in real conditions.
The participants that successfully completed all the procedures are awarded a 3-year certificate based on ISO9606.01:2013 and a 2-year certificate based on ISO9606.02:2005. During the validity of the certification, a specific surveillance procedure is followed every 6 months in order to verify the occupation of the professional in the certified object.
During the surveillance procedure, if the professional does not meet the criterion of continuous employment on the subject, the Certification Body temporarily suspends the validity of the accredited certificate while informing the professional of the actions should be taken within a specified period of time in order to lift Suspension of his/her certificate.
After this specified period of time if the certified person has not carried out the actions indicated to him, the certificate shall be revoked. Before the certification expires, the certified person may renew it based on ISO9606.01:2013 and on ISO9606.02:2005 standards. After the expiry of the certificate, the candidate follows the same rules and procedures as a new candidate.
